Building Bug Hotels
At Morrisroe we like to do things differently and our community work is no exception.
Over the years we have run stands at the Angel Canal festival, a community event we regularly sponsor. In 2018 this was a biodiversity workshop. Using wood working designs provided by the Construction Youth Trust, one of our project teams based at the Royal Mail Mount Pleasant job in Islington set about making a few hundred woodworking kits. This meant that the children and families attending our Canal festival stand, could (with a few power tools and a little help from our friendly site team), create their own bug hotels or bat resting boxes.
We also made up a few bug hotels, as well as some high-rise versions, which were sold at our stand. Sale proceeds were donated to the Construction Youth Trust.
Watch our film to see how we built the bug hotels.
